Every song was sung in Spanish, and I remember thinking how beautiful they were. I would tire her with my requests to sing them to me over and over again. Thinking back now, I have to say that those are the best childhood memories I have with my mother. As the years went by and I got older, those moments with her became seldom. As a teenager we would argue and as a young adult I was rarely home. Now as a mother, I find those turn of events quite sad.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then one day as my mother held Lily in her arms, I heard her sing to Lily one of my favorite childhood songs. I turned to look at them and those childhood memories came rushing back. They must have been singing these songs together for some time since Lily knew them all by heart. I stood there feeling nostalgic as my mother smiled and sang along. It took me a minute to realize that I should capture this moment, so I grabbed my camera and let it roll. It brings a smile to my face every time I watch it. </div>

When I used to imagine having a child, I wondered if they would be anything like me. Would they be shy and quiet as I was, keeping to themselves until called upon? It wasn't until I attended college and took Speech 101 that I came out of my shell (that was a nightmare by the way). Would they use their imagination and pretend they existed in their own world? My imagination as a child was so great that I would turn my dad's shoes into a Barbie limousine. Would they follow instead of lead? A good leader takes a lot of character, and an honest one would make me proud. Would they love to learn as I always have? Oh I wished and wished and wished for them to love learning. Having children is a roll of the dice, you really never know what you're going to get.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8wLvGfjfElY/UKrvDzY9T2I/AAAAAAAAAgE/wFFqa0aLMiY/s1600/1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8wLvGfjfElY/UKrvDzY9T2I/AAAAAAAAAgE/wFFqa0aLMiY/s640/1.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fast forward to today, and two months before my child turns 4 years old. Lily seems much older in my eyes than her age. Though she is initially shy and quiet, she's no wallflower. She takes her time to analyze people and her environment, and when she feels ready she takes over a room. Don't let that little face fool you, she has tricks up her sleeves.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ENMvC6AzlIg/UKrvZYKsoiI/AAAAAAAAAgY/6-zhBNH2WNY/s1600/11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="472" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ENMvC6AzlIg/UKrvZYKsoiI/AAAAAAAAAgY/6-zhBNH2WNY/s640/11.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her imagination would stump mine on many levels, and she loves super heroes and underdogs versus princesses any day. She prefers to be the savior, and being the damsel in distress does not appeal to her. She's a born leader, and feels comfortable leading kids much older than herself (leaving me to wonder how she does it). She loves to question you, and may even lead you to doubt yourself. She's a pretty smart cookie, and proves me wrong when I underestimate her...which I've learned not to do by now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-96EJlYCNY2w/UKrvQpzhTTI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/x8RvRsqm3s8/s1600/10.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-96EJlYCNY2w/UKrvQpzhTTI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/x8RvRsqm3s8/s640/10.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
She's probably the most sympathetic person you'll meet. She worries when babies cry, and will request that I pick them up (this is awkward when in public and I have no idea who the baby is). She cries if you do, gives hugs when she knows something is wrong, tells you how much she loves you, reminds you she missed you, and will kiss any wound you have. If there is such a things as an old soul, I feel she may have one. She's mature beyond her years, and can make me feel like the child at times. Playfully hitting her with a pillow will get me a "don't hit me, I'm your best friend!" and I instantly feel guilty. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As her 4th birthday approaches, I realize a few things. This year marks the end of her toddler stage, she'll be attending school next year. She's so prepared for school that she can't wait to meet her teacher. She's getting a haircut this weekend, so we're removing six inches of baby hair. She has an opinion about everything, but her only concern is whether or not she'll still look like a super hero after her haircut (3 year old problems). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Ultimately, I could never have imagined the child I was blessed with. She's just one very happy little girl...everything else is just icing on the cake.</div>

So you can imagine my surprise when I received a Pajama Gram at work on Valentine's Day. While many of my coworkers were receiving flowers and teddy bears, I got to open a Pajama Gram carrying pink fluffy footsie pajamas (and chocolate covered strawberries). I'm not lying when I say that I hugged my pink fluffy new pajamas and laughed like a school girl knowing how well my Valentine really did know me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> The moment I got home I tried them on, and stood in front of Lily saying 'look at me...look at me baby...I have footsies too'. She smiled from ear to ear at the sight of me, and couldn't contain her excitement. She loved that we were actually wearing the same exact thing.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I was in search for a quiet spot to capture her appearance and personality at this new age, and I looked forward to a relaxing afternoon after all the party planning. I wasn't necessarily there for the flowers, yet the moment we walked in we met two friendly old ladies raving about the orchids. I heard one of the ladies voice her regret of not bringing her camera when she turned around and noticed mine around my neck. She smiled at me and said 'Oh, you brought a nice camera...you should come with us and take a few pictures of the orchids. There is an extremely rare blue one you MUST see!'. Not wanting to turn her down we proceeded to follow her, but not before she advised us to bring a stroller if we had one. I didn't want to lose time by taking the stroller out of the car since we weren't planning to stay long...so I told her Lily would be fine walking. Then she lead us on a LOOOONG walk to the orchids (I nearly gave up).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jOeaFIp-fXE/T2OM5s1b5aI/AAAAAAAAAeU/51arRRnmcUc/s640/IMG_5834.JPG" width="426" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Lily was so fascinated with the greenhouse that it was nearly impossible for me to capture her. She was careful not to disturb anything, but would hop from one orchid to another...then sneak around the corner.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="470" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1H0csN6-coc/T2OM9n3GBkI/AAAAAAAAAec/T7YJ_sltb_0/s640/set1.jpg" width="640" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As soon as I would call her name to let her know she had gone too far...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">she would turn around and run back to me smiling.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OH3qP1MLVCE/T2OMyL1ouDI/AAAAAAAAAeM/k2zhPtfu4ho/s640/IMG_5830.JPG" width="640" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the infamous Blue Orchid...the reason why I lost breath reaching the greenhouse. It really was beautiful, just as I was told. Once the older ladies witnessed my documenting the orchids, they kindly left us to explore on our own...pointing out the Marriott Orchid on their way out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6cT7GJIZWM0/T2OMpStpr2I/AAAAAAAAAeE/5XwwyDwkPm8/s1600/IMG_5829.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6cT7GJIZWM0/T2OMpStpr2I/AAAAAAAAAeE/5XwwyDwkPm8/s640/IMG_5829.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I found the Marriott Orchid the most interesting. The very way it shields and captures water captivated me...it almost seemed like an art piece.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ak7r4AeV6rA/T2OMge5QvXI/AAAAAAAAAd8/LmOaIFyN-_Y/s1600/IMG_5827.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="412" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ak7r4AeV6rA/T2OMge5QvXI/AAAAAAAAAd8/LmOaIFyN-_Y/s640/IMG_5827.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These are Red Orchids</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="292" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NEUqxGcpc_w/T2ONAb8TMDI/AAAAAAAAAek/nqbD8g7072c/s640/set2.jpg" width="640" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We stepped out of the greenhouse, and ran into a female peacock sitting on her eggs. The peacock didn't budge one bit, and I made sure Lily watched from a distance. The animals at The Arboretum roam freely so I was always on alert when Lily came upon one.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bg_4WzbpUA8/T2OMXimuE9I/AAAAAAAAAd0/0fKArBpNOmI/s640/IMG_5812.JPG" width="640" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We kept a distance, not just for their sake but for ours also...the male peacock was apparently on guard.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBsyz-YvG5I2ZQdxwsN_r8jhn2NGucnBpcme3UU1za3VYJllexcId54uKXl1I6IY_UxVr9XMjYNCt3KOgYvxL_hYKcvlU4cV0Jvh6iAqSS9HllFg3Uq3J_5MVIRSFgN0VhwStpg4LR7szy/s640/set3.jpg" width="640" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We were finally back on track with only an hour to spare before closing time. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So we began our stroll into the gardens.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IDL3xTik9jQ/T2OY-wUyToI/AAAAAAAAAfc/cpzN6VU03Ug/s1600/set4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="628" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IDL3xTik9jQ/T2OY-wUyToI/AAAAAAAAAfc/cpzN6VU03Ug/s640/set4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I found a random rock in the middle of the field and asked Lily to sit down for a few shots. She was obviously in a wacky mood, and I couldn't get a serious face out of her for very long. Yet, her daddy really does like the larger image on the right...that's the face she gives when she's up to no good and proud of it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WAHedDDyO8c/T2OXSB9O8CI/AAAAAAAAAfM/SUxdtEy_v3Q/s640/IMG_5909.JPG" width="640" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I sat her on this large bench then realized how small she looked sitting there. I took this image with the idea that I will be back every year and sit her here...I would love to have a series of these images. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Lets just hope the bench survives that long.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V_JIfiv-cCA/T2OYFVamieI/AAAAAAAAAfU/Px5cD0g9Rk0/s1600/fav.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V_JIfiv-cCA/T2OYFVamieI/AAAAAAAAAfU/Px5cD0g9Rk0/s640/fav.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Just as we were about to leave, I see that tired look in her face. She looked so tranquil standing there, and far too exhausted to act out. She didn't fight it, she just stood there looking at me as she touched the little piece of skin on the tip of her lip. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This becomes the portrait I was seeking. <br />
With Halloween fast approaching we had it set in our mind to find a great pumpkin patch to take Lily to. I searched through many links until I found the pumpkin patch I felt had everything I always wanted to experience as a kid. So first thing Sunday morning we headed to the Irvine Railroad Pumpkin Patch!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VzsYeTxZmYs/Tqoul5rPKjI/AAAAAAAAAW0/4xLAyiXLyNo/s1600/Image1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="468" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VzsYeTxZmYs/Tqoul5rPKjI/AAAAAAAAAW0/4xLAyiXLyNo/s640/Image1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Lily didn't know what to make of such a place, everywhere she turned there was something exciting going on. I tried to convince her to sit on a pumpkin to take a few pictures...but she wouldn't have it. She just stood there like a deer caught in headlights. So I dropped the idea and asked her to pick out a pumpkin instead.</div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JQzMj2i7sIo/TqovJ34c48I/AAAAAAAAAXM/sD6g3xp8u0c/s1600/Image4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="344" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JQzMj2i7sIo/TqovJ34c48I/AAAAAAAAAXM/sD6g3xp8u0c/s640/Image4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> She eventually found her way to a real pony, and we named it Bullseye for the 5 minutes we had him.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Kep3rotdRAs/TqopINNMz0I/AAAAAAAAAV0/TrUKWhv5b0w/s1600/Image6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Kep3rotdRAs/TqopINNMz0I/AAAAAAAAAV0/TrUKWhv5b0w/s640/Image6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> When I was asked what I wanted painted on her face my first thought was a butterfly...thinking they would paint a tiny one on her cheek. An hour later she slept on the drive home and that beautiful butterfly face became clown-like and transferred all over her shirt. This people...is why you always take a picture!<br />
<br />
We'll definitely be back for Christmas!<br />

<br />
Our vacation was finally winding down, and we were preparing to return to our daily life. Yet, on our last day before checking out, we decided we would treat Lily to one more quick adventure. We explained to her that we were leaving, and that we were heading back to see her grandparents, cousins, and friends. She seemed excited to leave, but she couldn't walk away just yet. She insisted on spending a little more time on the balcony watching the scene below as she had many times during our vacation.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikTXEAxjMcqzVcs9HiBzg84HSb6u-dKNx4BJJJCHGrsUGkrL0bdIzX5pwHV1uMoHy1AlxgmEYFkjBOAL-PoAtUNXBdga8Ety7hQUTUvVn6Zrm_wg4m-ieNbGWJvUnQe8aIWdGpipxQSRJa/s1600/pic1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="324" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikTXEAxjMcqzVcs9HiBzg84HSb6u-dKNx4BJJJCHGrsUGkrL0bdIzX5pwHV1uMoHy1AlxgmEYFkjBOAL-PoAtUNXBdga8Ety7hQUTUvVn6Zrm_wg4m-ieNbGWJvUnQe8aIWdGpipxQSRJa/s640/pic1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">We waited on the balcony together as my husband loaded the car, and prepared for our departure. She was quite chatty that morning and kept asking to see monkeys and tigers. She's random, and will bring up many subjects without warning. The week before we were watching "The Jungle Book", and she turned to me to proclaim that she wanted to go to the jungle and dance with a bear.<br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I love the way her mind works...I can have conversations with her forever.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8Dso_8z5AA0/TlccVDeMZ1I/AAAAAAAAATk/lRa38sKpCDw/s1600/pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8Dso_8z5AA0/TlccVDeMZ1I/AAAAAAAAATk/lRa38sKpCDw/s640/pic2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">The glass elevator was another one of her favorite past times during our stay. We must have ridden that elevator more than a dozen times. At one point, we kept running into the same people, and I'm sure they were wondering if we were lost. The fact is that we kept using the elevator as our own personal amusement ride since it reached 10 stories and the view was of a beautiful waterfall. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y9udKgNyQzU/TlccvLtmQEI/AAAAAAAAATo/r23NbmbVPgE/s1600/IMG_4484.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y9udKgNyQzU/TlccvLtmQEI/AAAAAAAAATo/r23NbmbVPgE/s640/IMG_4484.JPG" width="432" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Let's not forget the mirror...she made sure to dance and jump every time we walked by.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Am27sIoeF-0/TlcdijPJl-I/AAAAAAAAATw/kzmGkdfglu0/s1600/pic3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Am27sIoeF-0/TlcdijPJl-I/AAAAAAAAATw/kzmGkdfglu0/s640/pic3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once we reached the San Diego Zoo, we bought Lily a hat and headed straight for the smelly flamingos. Why do they always insist on placing the flamingos in the front? Luckily, on the way out of a zoo I know I'm near the entrance by the stench of the flamingos. This time though, the baby flamingo made the stench worth standing still for...at least for a quick photo.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipexZ8aXYOmDSzi790LISLhBQavUvVHPlTm_xB5jPo44NvOh1C7BaVow1XPVMkPAUdpGkw0bpWujEYH3kg61LM4qLReWao1bPxVs2Hh51OeCv4f7zoVj4DL4ktGZoGMBpoE8KOR4qMOuCh/s1600/IMG_4789.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="430" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipexZ8aXYOmDSzi790LISLhBQavUvVHPlTm_xB5jPo44NvOh1C7BaVow1XPVMkPAUdpGkw0bpWujEYH3kg61LM4qLReWao1bPxVs2Hh51OeCv4f7zoVj4DL4ktGZoGMBpoE8KOR4qMOuCh/s640/IMG_4789.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This little guy was too cute to pass up. I caught him walking out of the pool, pull down a towel, and begin to dry himself up. I whistled at him like I would a dog, and he gave me this look.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We were then off to see some colorful birds...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a1fNDpaJkuY/Tlcdyg0qZLI/AAAAAAAAAT0/zJZQj8pusEw/s1600/pic4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a1fNDpaJkuY/Tlcdyg0qZLI/AAAAAAAAAT0/zJZQj8pusEw/s1600/pic4.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We entered the new bird exhibit, and it was amazing. You are literally placed inside a giant cage with all these exotic birds. Some were so large that when they flew above us their wing span stretched as tall as me. The blue bird above was feeding so close that we would be able to touch it...but we didn't of course.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4bH4ubzA7iA/TlceUiVj32I/AAAAAAAAAT4/ff3fORAmKHI/s1600/IMG_4569.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4bH4ubzA7iA/TlceUiVj32I/AAAAAAAAAT4/ff3fORAmKHI/s640/IMG_4569.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This yellow beauty flew over my head and perched itself on a branch inches away. Even with a camera in its face the bird didn't attempt to fly. Such an awesome experience!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--tJiuFpobf8/TlcetsvJZVI/AAAAAAAAAT8/gbLcm-7Qh1c/s1600/IMG_4503.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--tJiuFpobf8/TlcetsvJZVI/AAAAAAAAAT8/gbLcm-7Qh1c/s640/IMG_4503.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My monkey...ready to make our way down to see her favorite animal.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Once he woke up, he sprayed the walls with urine? He smelled every single spray on the wall as to make sure it was really there. Must have been due to all the strangers camping out so close to his territory.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
The family was finally able to take a vacation this year, and it was long awaited. During the last 2 days, I was able to capture Lily's very first Sea World visit. A week prior to our vacation, all she kept requesting were to see animals and it seemed as though we couldn't reach that day soon enough. So when it came time, we all woke up with excitement to begin the day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="292" qaa="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CDE9WxtIW1I/Tk0u1NNTW-I/AAAAAAAAASI/H1TeEJE0Hhw/s640/Pic1.jpg" width="640" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The moment she woke up I turned to her and whispered, <i>'Guess where we're going today?'</i>. She began to guess a few places including her baby sitter's house. I hovered over her and said <i>'We're going to see your animals today!'</i>...that instantly put a smile on her face. Then she stretched, rolled over, she sprung out of bed and immediately headed for her shoes.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OGwbxa5-GOs/Tk0u8zY50MI/AAAAAAAAASM/X_k7Rc_xs1c/s1600/Pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" qaa="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OGwbxa5-GOs/Tk0u8zY50MI/AAAAAAAAASM/X_k7Rc_xs1c/s640/Pic2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As I gathered her clothes and shoes to get her dressed, Lily opted to sit by the balcony window. The lighting that morning was so beautiful as the morning dew covered our window. She would rise to see the golfers already doing their rounds on the golf course, and then sit back down and have some grapes. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aa-I3yPVLvw/Tk0vFPFsztI/AAAAAAAAASQ/z87O21hnFa4/s1600/IMG_4115.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="452" qaa="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aa-I3yPVLvw/Tk0vFPFsztI/AAAAAAAAASQ/z87O21hnFa4/s640/IMG_4115.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As Lily sat there eating grapes, I was transfixed by her carefree expression. She was taking in the scenery, just existing in the moment. It made me exhale, and feel blessed for the little person sitting beside me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SChQO9U52sY/Tk0vM3OsK2I/AAAAAAAAASU/1IYLWR8cOdE/s1600/Pic3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" qaa="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SChQO9U52sY/Tk0vM3OsK2I/AAAAAAAAASU/1IYLWR8cOdE/s640/Pic3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We didn't waste any time, we went straight for <i>Shiver</i> the polar bear...and a few shots with <i>Shamu</i>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H3YbzAmZUcs/Tk0vdy6kG1I/AAAAAAAAASY/PvHoT42PNm8/s1600/IMG_4168.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" qaa="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H3YbzAmZUcs/Tk0vdy6kG1I/AAAAAAAAASY/PvHoT42PNm8/s640/IMG_4168.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We were thrilled to be seated in time for the first dolphin show, it was AH-MAZING!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I also handed one over to a little boy standing near me whimpering because his dad wouldn't buy any. The smile on his face was priceless.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2_ht22pixfM/Tk0wPgIJnqI/AAAAAAAAASg/sip9Ucl35ck/s1600/IMG_4194.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="416" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2_ht22pixfM/Tk0wPgIJnqI/AAAAAAAAASg/sip9Ucl35ck/s640/IMG_4194.JPG" width="640" /></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We stood a bit watching the seals, their call for food made Lily jump from time to time but she loved it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ft1-FQtvWZo/Tk0xFw0T3YI/AAAAAAAAASo/qfHrLomNSuo/s1600/IMG_4220.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ft1-FQtvWZo/Tk0xFw0T3YI/AAAAAAAAASo/qfHrLomNSuo/s640/IMG_4220.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The size of this starfish statue caught Lily's eye the moment we reached it. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MBKgsbYXeGg/Tk0xQ3GhpqI/AAAAAAAAASs/JyfOuDJclWI/s1600/Pic5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="326" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MBKgsbYXeGg/Tk0xQ3GhpqI/AAAAAAAAASs/JyfOuDJclWI/s640/Pic5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">She didn't hesitate to place her hand in the water and reach out for every starfish she could touch. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CXmt_zkuGOE/Tk0xXeiEEbI/AAAAAAAAASw/loo6W9u2YG0/s1600/Pic6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="568" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CXmt_zkuGOE/Tk0xXeiEEbI/AAAAAAAAASw/loo6W9u2YG0/s640/Pic6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We reached the fish exhibit, and took a few shots of our favorite ones. Most of the fish there were larger than Lily!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JzNx4OaouxM/Tk0x8FhszuI/AAAAAAAAAS8/IKSlncbQllE/s1600/Pic9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="356" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JzNx4OaouxM/Tk0x8FhszuI/AAAAAAAAAS8/IKSlncbQllE/s640/Pic9.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The piranhas shimmered so beautifully that when you gathered them all together in this tank they gave out an amazing light. There must have been hundreds of them swimming along side each other. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7nhVSKORqhU/Tk0xkSPHcpI/AAAAAAAAAS0/ZfAQPOyoZGQ/s1600/Pic8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="294" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7nhVSKORqhU/Tk0xkSPHcpI/AAAAAAAAAS0/ZfAQPOyoZGQ/s640/Pic8.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Lily's favorite had to have been the turtles. They followed her little finger, and would swim near her for the entire time we remained there.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xLiAy4QimBY/Tk0xuEFV5zI/AAAAAAAAAS4/DB1k63V3Bqo/s1600/IMG_4251.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xLiAy4QimBY/Tk0xuEFV5zI/AAAAAAAAAS4/DB1k63V3Bqo/s640/IMG_4251.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">When we exited the exhibit...our little friend was waiting outside. Well, I think it was him...they all look alike.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yR3eDZwtmFo/Tk0yHG8ezOI/AAAAAAAAATA/iVCpn5pVxMQ/s1600/Pic10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yR3eDZwtmFo/Tk0yHG8ezOI/AAAAAAAAATA/iVCpn5pVxMQ/s640/Pic10.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had to place a sweater on her to enter the polar bear exhibit, it was FREEZING! By this point, her hair was such a mess from the day that I had to leave it down and let it be. Once inside, she ran towards the window and stood in awe as the polar bear...well, he just slept the whole time. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ahyz2OEWCH4/Tk0yTq0uiDI/AAAAAAAAATE/6V6ZA9jtvJw/s1600/IMG_4319.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ahyz2OEWCH4/Tk0yTq0uiDI/AAAAAAAAATE/6V6ZA9jtvJw/s640/IMG_4319.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As we reached the end of our <i>Sea World</i> trip, we made sure we caught Elmo's 3D movie. The room was dark and I sat right next to her not giving me any room for much. I love her expression of enjoyment though...she really loved the entire movie from beginning to end.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We finally got around to buying the little one a pool this year. We always figured we could simply drive down the coast and spend time by the shore, but this year she kept insisting we allow her to swim. I don't trust the ocean very much in terms of allowing her to swim in it, especially at her age. So we settled for a family size pool and parked it in the backyard...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kT02JaHL9A4/TjD1YIYty3I/AAAAAAAAAR4/JFeLgoo70VU/s640/IMG_3999.JPG" width="640" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">She was in heaven the moment she stepped in. She would screech, yell, and laugh in that hysterical way that announces she's beyond pleased. As I filled the pool she would stand in one place and extend her arms wide allowing the water to hit her...then dance before doing it again.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="483" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AZxlH-le1FE/TjDwsl2RzYI/AAAAAAAAARo/czJ216dmJGM/s640/Lilygirl.jpg" width="640" /></div>When the pool was filled to capacity, the water reached Lily's shoulders when she sat. She would pretend to swim from one side of the pool to the other, when actually she was only crawling along the bottom. Even then she swallowed far too much water and kept coughing it up. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FdHNiOJqXgI/TjD3fivsAcI/AAAAAAAAASA/ao8q9jIXKVk/s640/IMG_4041.JPG" width="426" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I kept interrupting her session with 'Look at Mommy! Say Cheese!'...she wasn't having it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xeUgXzD4Qz8/TjD38V8mbUI/AAAAAAAAASE/kHYbkkze02I/s640/daddy.jpg" width="462" /></div>Yet, she took time out of her busy swimming session to plant a kiss on her daddy's nose and say 'Thank You' for the pool. He's a sucker for her, and I'm just glad she's not aware of it. Otherwise, she'll be asking for a car next!<br />

Usually we just hop in the car and drive down the coast with no plans to stop besides getting a good bite to eat. Yet, this day Lily kept calling for Nemo, Ponyo, and every water character she has seen in movies. So despite the fact that she didn't have a bathing suit and we walked down the sand fully clothed and in shoes...we had a great time. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gr9zjKsaQ0g/Til-e3BpUlI/AAAAAAAAARg/JW6mVd3TeGw/s1600/pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gr9zjKsaQ0g/Til-e3BpUlI/AAAAAAAAARg/JW6mVd3TeGw/s640/pic2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The water was beautiful, and she kept her eyes on the seagulls with such delight.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Lily will insist on staying in the water until her finger tips wrinkle up and look like raisins. Then by the time I wrap her up in her towel and begin to lotion her up she's asleep before I can even dress her. This has been our routine for the last two weeks...and I'm quite enjoying it.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We had been waiting all this time knowing it would be all the more sweeter when she was old enough to know who all the characters were, and really get into what Disneyland is all about. We watched all the movie classics weeks before, and she memorized everything pretty quickly. Though my husband and I grew up in Southern California, our parents rarely took us to Disneyland...which made going there all the more exciting. I plan to experience that with Lily so we opted not to purchase annual passes. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We woke up on a Thursday, and the first thing I asked her was 'Guess who we're going to see today?'. I pointed at the Ipad playing 'A Disney Christmas Carol', and she asked 'Mickey Mouse?'. She had no idea what she was about to experience.</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E6M734yO-Tc/TfrSQt4zuCI/AAAAAAAAAPc/k1D5IXuPdLY/s1600/Pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266px" i$="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E6M734yO-Tc/TfrSQt4zuCI/AAAAAAAAAPc/k1D5IXuPdLY/s640/Pic2.jpg" width="640px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The ticket booth was nice enough to hand us a '1st Visit' button Lily could wear, and she was eager to have us put it on. I think I was just as excited as she was.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Riw0r_ZkGXw/TfrUcSuRm7I/AAAAAAAAAPk/QWQyWe5xXLc/s1600/IMG_2839.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426px" i$="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Riw0r_ZkGXw/TfrUcSuRm7I/AAAAAAAAAPk/QWQyWe5xXLc/s640/IMG_2839.JPG" width="640px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Our first two rides were <em>The Jungle Cruise</em> and <em>Pirates of the Caribbean, </em>and this was us waiting to enter <em>The Haunted Mansion</em>. We made our way through Mickey's house and ended up meeting him. Lily walked right up to him and said 'Hi Mickey!'. We then watched the parade, and soon after proceeded to ride the submarine. We ended the night watching Captain EO!!! It was the first time sitting through it with the new renovated experience, we were enjoying MJs music and bouncing in our seats. Lily kept the glasses on through the whole movie...she was amazing!<br />

As I was enjoying the company of my entire family gathered under one roof, I kept focusing my attention to Lily. The fact that she is here amazes me, more so than most people would ever know.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ve been a<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>naturally thin person my entire life, and I was never able to imagine my body being capable of bringing a child into this world. Yet, miraculously I not only brought into this world a beautiful baby girl…she also weighed 9 pounds at birth!</span><br />

The fact that my body was able to stretch that much, and later adjust to its original shape is something taken out of a science fiction book. This is why I feel so blessed, and never take motherhood for granted…creating a little life and seeing that life flourish is a gift like no other.</span><br />

Everywhere we looked there were beautiful butterflies flying above our heads, landing on people, and eating while the paparazzi snapped away. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TWm9ZpDxUi0/TbDnRsLGpTI/AAAAAAAAAOc/6V_OGr4ECVI/s1600/Pic13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" i8="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TWm9ZpDxUi0/TbDnRsLGpTI/AAAAAAAAAOc/6V_OGr4ECVI/s640/Pic13.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(Click to Enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This was by far one of our favorite butterflies, we almost missed it because it blended so well to the flower it was feeding off of. <br />
A few days ago we took her to visit the USC campus in hopes of picking up new gear before the football season begins. Yet, the moment we get there all she can focus on are all the fountains. Every turn we took displayed one fountain after another. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2i7QKxLmuQg/TafR8NKMRvI/AAAAAAAAAN8/INsXYQ0n5T0/s1600/IMG_2135.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2i7QKxLmuQg/TafR8NKMRvI/AAAAAAAAAN8/INsXYQ0n5T0/s640/IMG_2135.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I kept her at a safe distance...obviously I'm the boring parent. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So she asked her dad to give her a closer look...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivFTxb30EnN27VoKlhWWNcZVBhf-loq5brVRdQNdLrDROUkXiC03_5o3-XEwQVvDq-4r3ypFvy22uM3nhtAwTVgTNMWXjPmbVray3ZTmSFZ7tFQQ_IduDNJdGlOJu3VWssFLAaqxOX9_9H/s1600/pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivFTxb30EnN27VoKlhWWNcZVBhf-loq5brVRdQNdLrDROUkXiC03_5o3-XEwQVvDq-4r3ypFvy22uM3nhtAwTVgTNMWXjPmbVray3ZTmSFZ7tFQQ_IduDNJdGlOJu3VWssFLAaqxOX9_9H/s640/pic2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My husband had a good hold of her, otherwise we would likely become one of those parents who everyone stared at because they allowed their kid to fall into the fountain. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Plus, I've seen a dog pee in that fountain years ago...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">that kind of stuff stays with you. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vP4lGPTwB0w/TafUgbP5qxI/AAAAAAAAAOY/zW4VEjLSJUw/s1600/pic5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" r6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vP4lGPTwB0w/TafUgbP5qxI/AAAAAAAAAOY/zW4VEjLSJUw/s640/pic5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Oh lookey here...she found another fountain. Yup, there she goes.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8INb1v2mnPo/TafTMFUYn6I/AAAAAAAAAOM/g2yzhgDvoow/s1600/pic3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" r6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8INb1v2mnPo/TafTMFUYn6I/AAAAAAAAAOM/g2yzhgDvoow/s640/pic3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">You would think that after spending quite some time on campus looking at water...well, it would become boring. Clearly I'm wrong because look at that face, you would think my daughter had never been introduced to water. Come to think about it, this is the kid that will ask...no, beg you to take her a bath. </div><div style="text-align: center;">She has nearly cried for one on a few occasions.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8Aq61vxaryM/TafTXvrbolI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/2VR29R-B8jo/s1600/pic1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8Aq61vxaryM/TafTXvrbolI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/2VR29R-B8jo/s640/pic1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Little Foot here found a giant leaf and that was our cue to distract her enough to pull her away from the fountains. It took her a minute to realize what was happening, and she made a scene I would rather not document. Let's just say she caught the attention of a few college kids, and I felt SO much like that parent.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-znOaaeW6xhw/TafTfzGmJ4I/AAAAAAAAAOU/c2bJLKbnpIw/s1600/pic4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" r6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-znOaaeW6xhw/TafTfzGmJ4I/AAAAAAAAAOU/c2bJLKbnpIw/s640/pic4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Fortunately, she forgives and forgets quite easily. The tears left as fast as they came. Then I proceeded to tickle and chase her all the way to the car. Please ignore my face in the images above and just focus on her (oh, and my wrinkled sweater).</div><br />

Through it all I kept a pretty positive outlook and tried to remind myself that I should focus on the blessings in my life rather than the negative. There was the incident where our car got rear-ended, the trip to the ER when Lily's fever wouldn't subside, and the tsunami/radiation scare we had here in California after the earthquake in Japan. I told myself that the car can be fixed and everyone was fine, Lily's fever was gone the next day, and though my heart goes out to all the victims of Japan's earthquake...it's another reminder to cherish life because we are not guaranteed another day.<br />
<br />
So I am focused now even more than ever to cherish every day...the mundane...every moment. I have also learned that Mozzarella sticks makes everything better! <br />

They watched Lily most of the morning, taking her on walks and trips to the store. I had just gotten out of the shower when I heard Lily reading my dad a book...or at least HER version of the book (it changes from time to time). As I woke up this morning, a feeling of excitement came over me. My daughter was turning two years old, and I couldn't wait to see her reaction to everything I had planned for her today. She is far too young to understand what went into planning everything...how I wanted everything personalized just for her, or how her dad and I stood up making sure all the cupcake flags and giant lollipop stickers were placed perfectly. All that mattered was that she felt all the love everyone has for her, and there was plenty of love on her special day. We were not only surprised with the number of friends and family that arrived to celebrate, but we were also blessed with the arrival of family members my husband hadn't seen in 15 years.<br />
<br />
<br />
Throughout the day I caught myself staring at Lily for moments at a time, amazed with who she has become. She's independent, smart, funny, brave, and extremely self assured. I don't believe I was ever all those qualities at once for more than a day. In two years I have taught her so much, but not nearly as much as she has taught me. For this reason and more...I cherish every day and many more years to come.<br />
<br />

I had never been an Apple fan, and we surely didn't need another computer in the house. Yet, he was getting a great deal through a friend and he couldn't pass it up. The day he came home with the package he sat down and began downloading apps to show me how we can all benefit from the Ipad. He downloaded a library of e-books for me, connected us to Netflix, and downloaded many educational tools for Lily. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="426" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tMIbEn7Stfc/TQGyO1FswJI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/kWZDJYnx_Zc/s640/IMG_5117.JPG" width="640" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Lily was 14 months old when my husband sat down and went through one educational tool to another. He taught her how to point at animals to hear their sounds, and she quickly caught on. I thought it was the cutest thing...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_tMIbEn7Stfc/TQZB0Ej4ubI/AAAAAAAAAKY/qaQN46yivBI/s1600/18+months.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_tMIbEn7Stfc/TQZB0Ej4ubI/AAAAAAAAAKY/qaQN46yivBI/s640/18+months.jpg" width="534" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">By 18 months, Lily maneuvered her way through the Ipad like a pro. She would turn it on, sit down, and then scroll down until she found an educational app she wanted to use. She knew all the sounds of transportation (choo-choo), sounds of animals (moo), the alphabet, and many words. <br />
<br />
Now, at 22 months...I take joy in watching her learn more and more every day.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

(excuse the bad lighting here)</span></em></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white;">We spend lots of time together learning, so I can't give the Ipad all the credit. I still love the traditional reading a book before bedtime, coloring books, chalkboards, board puzzles, and playing pretend. Nothing can replace those things. Yet, the Ipad does help from having to clean up after her a lot more. ;) </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
